About MOA > Secretary's Message

Dear friends,

Greetings from Secretaries desk.

I am not a good orator nor am I accustomed to give messages to anyone. I know, how to work, how to do the job and get it done. I express what I feel when I shoulder the responsibility of Secretary of such prestigious association.

First thing first. I thank you all for giving this responsibility.

I remember Dr. Sharad Choudhary who was my PG guide and was first MOA Secretary. I remember it was 26th June 1990 when I went to him to take his blessings when I passed MS Ortho, from B J M C Pune, he immediately asked for one thousand Rupees towards MOA life membership. He was such gem of a person and a devoted Secretary.

I remember Dr. C D Nalulwar who was first to get elected to MOA exe. And become secretary from Kolhapur.Because of him I could hear name ‘MOA EXE COMMITTEE’ in those days. I am the third MOA secretary from Kolhapur, maximum number from any one particular place.

It was Dr. Abhyankar who made me realize that one must give some of his time for the association, our colleagues.

I joined MOA in 2006. Dr. Warunjikar was there as a secretary. I believe it was him, who brought the office of MOA to an order. He taught me importance of proper record keeping, audited accounts, and maintain papers.

After that Dr. Abhyankar gave momentum to MOA activities. The membership increased and crossed one thousand mark, the journal was started website was released, regional conferences were started and many more things to mention.

I thank all of them, for carrying the batten and handing it to me.

I have few things goals in my mind to begin with.

1-To increase membership and make members more interested in association.

2-Try to percolate clinical, practicle, knowledge and surgical skills required in day to day practice in all the members.

3-As I am working as a WEBMASTER till date, since inception of the website, it is my child. I have more plans about
the website, shall try to make it more usefull, more interactive and more members friendly and happening things.

4- Try and improve ways modes means of communications and personal relations between all the members of MOA.

In hindi it is said jaao saca hO vaao saih hO .  I believe it. I also believe simplicity, sincerity, and transparency.

Marathi is such a great language it describes it in one word-

I mention this today because,

I wish, I hope, I pray on my very first day, when I complete my tenure I will prefer to be remembered by and for word-

I once again thank you all for giving me this opportunity and I expect whole hearted support from each one of you in my tenure and even after that.

Thankyou

Dr. Nitin Deshpande.

Hon. Secretary cum Treasurer

Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association.
